There is an excellent dump station well sign posted (Esk Road) opposite the Saleyards turn right off SH 43 just prior to Stratford.
Pembroke Settlers Hall Pembroke Road Stratford GPS S=39.32295 E=174.22959 Sheltered parking behind the building. Situated on what may be a well used intersection of the highways. Mt Taranaki peeking through the clouds nearby.

Just over 20kms from Eltham over some very special and typical King Country terrain farm land is Lake Rotokare a special safe haven built for our native Kiwi.......however further down the winding road is ......
Lake Rukumoana
GPS = S39.43678 E174.47966 A tranquil park very well maintained by the local council.
This a fantastic quiet stop over (not so quiet in the holiday times I was told) plenty of space, toilets and water.

What a mammoth undertaking making this little piece of 'Gods Own' rodent free area is. Enter through motorized man-trap gates and the fence construction on its own is something to see before you drive through the forest entry road to a serene lake and large park area. Water and toilets. Note there are limits as to when motorised boats can use the lake.
