As you enter Tinopai turn left into Ngatoto Road, follow this road for a little over 600m passed the end off the seal, turn right at road numbered 118E.

Follow this road, travel slow as this road will test your packing.

Pass through two gates, as the water view opens up through the trees, note this is only for the passengers as there is a pot hole that will almost swallow you and your vehicle if you are not watching!

Continue to the end of Waipuna Point passing the house with the POP sign. Here you will find many

parking places with locations and views that will appeal to everyone.

It may pay to check with Don before traveling out there. He sometimes has groups visiting.

There is a lot to do here especially at the waters edge.

Nearest dump site and

shopping is at Dargaville.

I said earlier that I was not going to list camping

grounds but I found this one to be one of those

                                       GEMS.

At a very reasonable rate for powered sites, set right on the beach.Showers, toilets and outdoor amenities to enjoy

the coastline in this little village.

One stop shopping at the garage along the road.

Telecom cellphone coverage is not great but a walk

to the wharf (2-3ks) will connect you with the outside

world and provide a pleasant healthy endeavor.

Ruawai Park

An open parking area right beside the Wairoa River.

Hidden just over

the embankment with well kept toilets nearby.

A short walk to the village

shops, pizza bar, great memories in the second hand store / post shop

and a well stocked supermarket.

Might be noisy in the weekend if the launching ramp is as well used as I might suspect

Set high on the hill above Dargaville in a park setting

that has gates secured for the night and regular security guard visits. There is plenty of parking (appox., 40m x 40m)toilets, dump station and water.

The Museum has been well put together and spells out the history of the area through its extremely well detailed exhibits.Well worth the visit.

The two masts on river side of the sit are from the ill fated Rainbow Warrior.

Rabbits, bird life and morning walkers make amusing breakfast entertainment.

The local shops are well provisioned and add to this riverside bustling community.

Woolworths and The Warehouse) parking on

the front of the section.

I am informed that the frontage of this POP has now been metaled for better parking.

This site located at Glinks Gully is an interesting

drive from Dargaville through fertile countryside

and when you think you might have missed a

turning the road descends to the coast.

There is a bridge over the stream and no need to

manage the little fjord.

This Western Coastline settlement enjoys all the entertainment that the Tasman sea has to offer. Parking is on the owners section (see my vehicle parked) and within 100m from the edge of the water. A lonely seat awaits your opportunity for peaceful contemplation of the Tasman sea at its best.

 Kelly's Beach

Dale Road

Pouto Point

This a local reserve and camp site with powered sites and campsites the toilets (L/D). I am told the aim is for a family camp the the price structure is in my GEM zone especially as it covers two adults and 2 children i.e. per van.

The site is effectivley right on a beach that the tide departs from the bay at low tide however looks to be a safe and suitable beach for all when it returns.

You will need to do all

provisioning before

leaving Dargaville.

There are four power         outlets along the side of  the building, toilets and a  shower. Great views out  over the Kaipara harbour.

There was a seal basking in the sun down on the rocks the day I was there.

It is a short walk to the beach which is also suitable for 4 wheel drive vehicles.

Titoki Twin Bridges

Mangakahia Road

Titoki                    GPS  S=35.7348292  E=174.0513512

The GPS entry took me to the centre of the bridge, The Directory instructions were "turn off,bridge...."

The area below the bridge looked quite large along the river bank but the only ???? access I could find was this old driveway (that would need a 4wheel drive vehicle) that would then be faced with a farmers fenced milk shed cattle run.

The dam just above the falls controls the outflow and keeps a constant level feeding back up what appears to be a man made water course feeding the Titoki power dam, the stop shown above.
