" When the Japanese entered World War II in December 1941, Waipapakauri was New Zealands Northernmost airfield....." Go and read the rest for yourself. An interesting piece of Far North history extremely well displayed near the R.S.A. installation of remembrance right beside the Waipapakauri Hotel carpark.

At last I have made it to the top..... CAPE REINGAactually the Northern most point is 3 kms North of here, North Cape and is a distant headland just visible to the right and beyond Spirits Bay.
(1)Te Warahi Beach (2)The Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean I have visited this spot many times and this is the most that I have seen this wave action. I took a movie shot of it and had difficulty catching the two opposing waves meeting as it was never in the same place twice. So much for the reef and sand bank theory.
